Initial Orientation Courses (EOK) for Asylum Seekers and Newcomers

Initial Orientation Courses (EOK) focus on everyday life in Germany for asylum seekers and newcomers. In these courses, participants receive important information and basic German language skills to help them find their way in Germany.

Who can participate in an Initial Orientation Course

Initial Orientation Courses (EOK) are primarily designed as an introductory and orientation program for asylum seekers. If there are available places, other individuals may also participate, such as recognized refugees or EU immigrants.

The EOK is intended exclusively for people who do not have the opportunity to attend an integration course, or for whom an integration course is currently not the right option.

Children and young people who attend school (those subject to compulsory schooling) cannot participate in an Initial Orientation Course.

Participation in the course is voluntary and free of charge. If you are interested in an Initial Orientation Course, please contact a course provider that coordinates or offers the courses in your federal state.
